How to exercise?
The most common question I hear is what should I be doing? To answer that you need to first know what you want to achieve! There are so many ways to exercise how many reps? How many sets? How long do I rest between sets? What exercises do I do in what order?
These are all great questions and there is a science to it. Lets starts with repetitions.
Reps
Reps are the number of times you do a exercise. The higher the resistance the less reps you will perform. For example.
Sets
Sets is the group of reps performed in one continuous period. This also affects your results and depends on the intensity and results desired. When training for strength you will train with a heavy resistance for low reps but you will be required to do more sets. For example.
Rest between sets
Rest is in tune again with amount of resistance you are using and number sets you are performing. Due to amount of time given for the muscles to rests effects energy and hormone reproduction it is important to give yourself the right time to rest. The longer you rest the more testosterone is developed at the less time gives growth hormone and increased waste production. It works that heavier weight more rest. For example
Speed of exercise
The speed of the exercise is specific to results required for example a slow movement is good for strength , and building muscle. Fast movement is power training. |
